So, unfortunately, I can't separate ban, temporary ban, and warn out from each other, so if you have one of those privileges, you have them all. I want to give this power to all grunts in the clan. But in order to do this, I need to know that you all wont abuse it. So here are the rules (if this were to be implemented): 1. If someone leaves a 5v5, 4v5, or 4v4 game in a way that unbalances the game, use !tbl (temporary ban last). 2. If someone ruins a game in another way (feeding, afk, etc.) use !tbl 3. If someone is being a jackass in some way, use !w (!warn) 4. If someone disconnects from the game in a way that may or may not be a plug puller, warn them. 5. If you think someone should be permanently banned, follow these directions: - Save the replay.
- Upload it to www.dotaparser.com
- Make a new thread in the Ban Request board.
- Copy and paste the web url into the new thread(not the download link)
- Post a reason for the ban request.
Three warnings within one week will automatically get that person temporarily banned. Temporary bans expire after 7 days. Warnings expire after 7 days. Does this sound like a good idea? Ideas or modifications?

Since nobody has posted anything in this I'm going to go ahead and implement it. All bans will henceforth last 7 days. I look through bans constantly to delete anything without a reason.
Permabans will need to follow the permaban request rules.

i think we need a 30 day ban because perma ban is obvly saved for the most offensive people (like that korky guy) and a week ban is prefect for people who leave when its 5v5 (don't use on d/c unless they feed a lot first) but what about those famous flamers that then kill their items and leave or just feed flame and leave i think they need more then a week and less then a perma ban

In that case you need to ban them for the temporary 7 days, then submit a request for a 30 day ban, just like the request for a permaban.

I'm not sure that we can apply the same rules with Clan THR because their community is large enough to support permban request whereas we are the only three members that pays any attention to this forum. The old settings are better overall even though they limit all grunt's and peon's admin abilities. Hopefully there will be another update for the bots so that they will be able to separate !tbl and the !bl command. Nevertheless, I doubt that anyone would post a permban request on the forum given that hardly anyone realize that there is a forum, and even our own members haven't visited this site even once.

It's true, but I've limited all bans to 7 days for now. If someone believes that they're responsible enough to ban someone for longer, then they need to show that by posting it on the forums.
Basically, we need to enforce reasons to use the forums more.

Easier said than done of course Q: What was wrong with the old ban system other than grunts/peons weren't allowed to use the !tbl command?

The problem is that the GHost One (the bot) doesn't distinguish a difference between ban, temp ban, and warn, so either someone has the power to do all of those things or none of those things.
If I prevent you from banning at all, the bot prevents you from temp banning and warning as well. It's a package deal.
So under the old system, nobody had the power to ban, temp ban, or even warn except the shamans, everybody else got nothing. So I figure the best way (for now) to spread out the power of the Ban Hammer as evenly as possible is to give everyone limited ban powers, which means that a small number of shamans sacrifice a bit of power so that a large number of grunts are able to share that power.
As an issue of trust and judgment, I reduced all default ban times to 7 days. This is because I only really trust my shamans and a small number of grunts to use the Ban Hammer lawfully and justly. I do not know most of the grunts well enough to know that about them, so having these shorter bans will help me see that the clan (as a whole) can handle having widespread ban powers.

Thanks for the clarification; I've always thought that the peons/grunts can !warn in the old ban system, but I've must have mistaken it for something else. Nevertheless, I'm hoping that there will be an update for the bots to be able to differentiate the commands throughout the clan, if that is possible.

So do I!
As soon as an update comes out that differentiates between warning, temporary bans, and regular bans, the system will be much more smooth.
The system we currently have is just a temporary solution until that update comes out (but I have no idea when that will be, unfortunately).
When it comes out the system will be much closer (if not exactly) to what is actually posted in the ban/admin powers thread.

That is if the creators of the bot are informed about this problem, and if they will even pay attention to it is another big if.

I made a thread on the bot's forum about it. So hopefully someone will see it, I'll keep bumping it if I can.
