League of Legends is an AoS(Aeon of Strife) game made by the original makers of dota, guinsoo and somebody else(can't remember who) Its gameplay is very very fun and smooth, the mechanics are fun in it, heroes are starting to achieve some balance, combine this with robust graphics that are much more attractive then dota(Limited by wc3's engine) LoL is its own game, so it can constantly be improved upon and upgraded.
